This piece consists of three different narrative perspectives. It revolves around the confused subject, the painter, and the viewer.
The standing subject waits for their picture to be taken while holding their own self-portrait, but unexpectedly, it comes to life, desperate to get out. The two hands in the foreground represent the present version of myself working on this painting, trying to alarm the unaware subject of the terrified portrait in their hands.
I wanted to capture a comedic scenario around how I think my self-portraits feel about being trapped on the same canvas forever
